The incident that shook South Korea... Death toll rises: Dozens missing

The death toll has now risen to 85 after a plane crashed while landing at an airport in South Korea.

Efforts to rescue passengers

Rescue teams are busy trying to rescue passengers from the wreckage of a plane that veered off the runway and crashed at Muan International Airport.

The plane that veered off the runway had become a ball of fire after hitting a wall. The plane, which landed with 175 passengers and 6 crew members, was reportedly forced to make an emergency landing on a second attempt after its landing gear failed to open.

Cause of the crash

Of the 85 dead, 46 were women and 39 were men, and dozens of people are reported to be missing. A local fire chief said two crew members had been rescued from the crashed plane.

Officials said a bird strike may have been the cause of the malfunction. In addition, weather conditions are also suspected to be a factor in the accident. It has been reported that the aircraft was completely damaged after the crash, with only the tail section recognizable.
