A 26-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of Brian Thompson, an American businessman and CEO of United Healthcare Insurance.
Luigi Nicholas Mangione, a young man from Towson, Maryland, USA, was arrested yesterday (20.12.2024), according to local media reports.
Mangione, who had been following Brian Thompson for several months, is said to have planned and shot him dead for many days.
Insurance company fraud
Mangione traveled to New York and shot Thompson in front of a Manhattan hotel.
The FBI says Thompson was killed because he was the head of UnitedHealthcare, a health insurance company.
Social media users are claiming that many Americans have fallen ill and died because the insurance company was difficult to collect money from.
Maximum sentence
Some say that this murder was carried out to bring justice to the many people who were affected by this.
Furthermore, some are campaigning for Mangione's release. However, killing someone is not a moral act.
