After months of restrictions, Germany has approved arms exports to Israel again.
The German government has approved new arms exports to Israel worth 30 million euros by the end of 2024, the Spiegel news agency reported.
The German government has now made this decision, after temporarily suspending arms exports to Israel in September.
Germany is said to have approved arms exports to Israel worth a total of more than 160 million euros in 2024. This has drawn international criticism.
At the same time, Germany has refused to approve some arms supplies, such as artillery and tank ammunition.
However, German-made Merkava tanks and some new systems manufactured by Renk have been approved.
The German government reportedly approved the exports only after Israel promised to comply with international law in its security measures.
In September, the German economy ministry temporarily suspended arms exports to Israel due to university lawsuits, which it said violated humanitarian law.
The case has sparked fresh debate over Germany’s arms policies and international perceptions.
