Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's ashes immersed in Yamuna river



The ashes of the late former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh were immersed in the Yamuna river today.

Former Prime Minister of India Manmohan Singh (92), who was undergoing treatment at Delhi AIIMS due to ill health, passed away without any result from treatment.


Leaders including the President paid tribute to Manmohan Singh at his residence in Delhi.


Following this, his body was cremated at the Nigambod Ghat crematorium on the banks of the Yamuna river in Delhi yesterday.


Manmohan Singh's body was given full military honours with 21 gunshots fired during the funeral.


Following this, Manmohan Singh's body, which was covered in sandalwood, was set on fire by his eldest daughter Upinder Singh.


In this situation, the ashes taken from his body, which were collected and immersed in the Yamuna river today.


For this, Manmohan Singh's wife, Gursharan Kaur, his daughters and relatives went to the Yamuna River this morning to bathe.
