Elon Musk's SpaceX has signed a deal with the Pentagon to increase Ukraine's digital security.
Ukraine's digital security
SpaceX has confirmed its commitment to Ukraine's digital security with a deal it has signed with the Pentagon.
The deal will significantly expand access to a secure version of the Starlink satellite communications system.
Under the new deal, a significant number of Ukraine's Starlink terminals - 2,500 to be precise - will be upgraded to the Starshield system.
This advanced system offers advanced security features, including strong encryption and anti-interference, making it a critical asset when facing cyber threats.
Previously, only 500 terminals in Ukraine had the privilege of using Starshield.
The total contract includes the service of 3,000 Starlink terminals, divided into two contracts. These services are set to begin next year.
By providing Ukraine with this robust communications infrastructure, SpaceX aims to empower the nation to maintain critical digital connectivity, even in challenging circumstances.
This strategic move underscores the growing importance of satellite technology in modern warfare and national security.
