Main reasons for India's defeat in the Adelaide Test

The Indian team lost the match against the Australian team by 10 wickets in the Adelaide Test.

In this day-night Test played with the pink ball, the Indian team was scattered in all three departments - batting-bowling-fielding.

In this match that lasted for two and a half days, the Indian team lost 20 wickets in 81 overs. The Indian team scored 355 runs in the first innings and the Australian team scored 337 runs. Moreover, the Australian team lost only 10 wickets.

The main reason for the defeat is said to be the fact that the Indian team did not build a partnership of more than 30 runs in the second innings.

Reasons for the defeat

1- Indian batsmen were defeated by the swing and extra bounce of the pink ball

On the first day, the ball was swinging up to 1.6 degrees. In this situation, the Indian team stumbled in the first two sessions of the first day's play. Rohit won the toss and elected to bat.

Experienced players like captain Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, and Virat Kohli were dismissed. Kohli and Rahul were sent to the pavilion by Mitchell Starc.

The Indian batsmen were caught on a bounce ball that swung outside the off stump. The other batsmen could not cope with the extra swing and bounce of the pink ball. At one point, India's tally was 71/1. In the next 10 runs, he lost the wickets of Rahul, Virat, and Gill.

2- Jasprit Bumrah - Captain Rohit failed to make the right decision in bowling

Jasprit Bumrah proved to be the only capable player in the Indian bowling attack. He took 4 wickets in the first innings and suffocated the Australian batsmen with his precise bowling.

However, captain Rohit did not continue his spell at the right time. Bumrah took 2 wickets in quick succession in the first session of the second day's play, but he was allowed to bowl only 4 overs. On the other hand, Harshit Rana kept giving away runs.

3- Failure to play in under-light conditions

The Indian batsmen were at the crease on Saturday, but the under-light conditions of the second innings made the Indian batsmen unable to play.

At the end of the second day's play, the Indian team had scored 128 runs for the loss of 5 wickets. Opener KL Rahul scored 7, Virat Kohli 11, Rohit Sharma 6. This time, Pat Cummins and Scott Boland took 2 wickets each.

4- Travis Head missed catches twice

Travis Head missed catches twice, which led to him scoring 65 runs more.

The first time, Mohammed Siraj missed the catch. Then, when he was playing on 75 runs, wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant failed to catch a ball bowled by Harshit Rana.

Travis Head then scored 140 runs. His impressive performance helped Australia score 337 runs, giving them a lead of 157 runs. Australia had scored 251 runs in the first two sessions of the second day's play.
