EU prepares for war with Russia, plans to allocate 100 billion euros for weapons

With the growing tension with Russia, the European Union (EU) is planning to significantly increase defense spending in the future.

Andrius Kubilius, Commissioner for Defense and Space, has announced that the EU will allocate about 100 billion euros for defense over the next 7 years.

This is a 10-fold increase compared to the current 10 billion euros allocated.

Echoes of Russian aggression

Kubilius says that it is important to improve defense initiatives and weapons production, as Russia's aggression in Ukraine is a major concern for Europe.

This highlights the need for Western countries to unite to deal with threats from Russia.

500 billion euros needed

A lot of money is needed to improve the European defense sector.

European Commission President Ursula Von der Leyen has proposed a plan to spend 500 billion euros over the next decade.

At the same time, it is said that various countries should explore a strategy to relax debt limits.

Countries such as Greece and Italy have demanded in particular that defense spending be removed from the assessment.

NATO-EU integration

The European Union plans to further strengthen its relationship with NATO and pursue plans to identify its capacity gaps.

These relationships will lead to the purchase of equipment such as 49 new brigades, 1,500 tanks, and 1,000 rifles.

Furthermore, in his speech, Kupelius said, "We must unite, just as the dominant countries unite." This is seen as an attempt to strengthen Europe's defense initiatives.
