Russia's decision on rice exports

Russia has announced an extension of the ban on rice exports for another 6 months.

Another 6 months

In 2022, an accident occurred at the Fedorovsky hydroelectric power station in Russia. In addition, there was a major flood in the rice fields of the Krasnodar region, which is a rice-producing region.

As a result, Russia announced a temporary ban on rice exports. That is, the ban on rice exports was extended until December 31, 2024, to ensure stable supply to the domestic market.

In this situation, the government of the country has now extended the ban on the export of rice and rice products, except for rice seeds, until June 30, 2025.

However, this export ban does not apply to supplies to the EAEU countries, Abkhazia and South Ossetia.

The ban on rice exports does not apply to humanitarian aid and as part of international transport.

It has also been reported that rice for sowing has been exempted from the temporary ban, taking into account the requests of partner states for the supply of seed materials.
