Russia's 2025 budget: Rs 10 lakh crore allocated for defense spending

Russia's 2025 budget has allocated nearly Rs 10 lakh crore for defense spending.

To ensure victory in the ongoing war with Ukraine, the Russian government has increased defense spending to an unprecedented level in the 2025 budget.

According to the new plan of the Russian government, 33 percent of the total budget, or one-third, has been allocated for the country's defense.

This is 3.5 trillion rubles (approximately Rs 9,54,975 crore in Sri Lankan currency). This is 28.3% more than the previous defense spending.

The plan has been approved by officials from both houses of the Russian parliament, the Federation Council and the State Duma.

Largest War Since World War II

Russia’s war in Ukraine, which began in February 2022, is Europe’s largest conflict since World War II, and it is draining the resources of both sides.

While Ukraine has been strengthening its defenses with Western support, Russian forces are advancing on the ground with stronger and better equipment.
