The Russian Ministry of Health has announced that it has developed a new vaccine against cancer.
The vaccine will be available to patients free of charge in early 2025.
The head of the Radiology Medical Research Center of the Russian Ministry of Health, Andrei Koprin, confirmed the information.
The vaccine will not be given to the general public to prevent diseases; instead, it will be used to treat patients with cancer.
The vaccine will be tailored to individual patients, similar to personalized cancer vaccines developed in Western countries.
Based on RNA technology, the vaccine will be made based on the nature of each patient’s cancer.
Further details on what types of cancer the vaccine will target and how effective it will be have not yet been released.
The vaccine trains the immune system to recognize antigens on cancer cells and destroy them.
Similar technology is also being tested in the UK and the US.
As cancer rates continue to rise globally, Russia has reported 635,000 new cancer cases in 2022 alone.
Additionally, cancer vaccines are being tested in the UK and the US and have begun to show reliable results for the first time.
This announcement by Russia is seen as a major breakthrough in the global cancer treatment industry.
