It has been revealed that a monthly allowance of Rs. 1,000 was being deposited in the name of actress Sunny Leone in the state of Chhattisgarh.
Money in the name of Sunny Leone
State governments are implementing various welfare schemes for the advancement of women. In such a way, in Tamil Nadu, married women are being given Rs. 1000 per month in the name of Kalaignar Mahila Uthira Sum.
Similarly, in Chhattisgarh, married women are receiving Rs. 1,000 every month in their accounts under the BJP government's Mahdari Vandan Yojana scheme.
Someone has been receiving allowance in the name of Bollywood actress Sunny Leone under this scheme. That is, they have been using the government scheme by opening a fake bank account in the name of Sunny Leone.
The person who opened and operated this account has been identified as Virendra Joshi and a case has been registered against him. An investigation is also being conducted against the officials responsible for verifying the eligible beneficiaries of this scheme.
The scam took place in Talur village in Bastar district of Chhattisgarh. District Collector Haris has ordered the Women and Child Development Department to conduct a detailed investigation into the matter and seize the bank account.
Currently, the issue has sparked a heated argument between the ruling BJP and the opposition Congress.
State Congress president Deepak Baij has alleged that 50 percent of the beneficiaries under the Mahatari Vandan Yojana scheme are fake.
Responding to his comments, Deputy Chief Minister Arun Chao said, "The Congress is in pain because it is now providing monthly assistance that the Congress could not provide during the previous regime."
