Low pressure area to strengthen in next 12 hours - Meteorological Department





The low pressure area over the Bay of Bengal is expected to strengthen into a low pressure area in the next 12 hours.


The Meteorological Department said,


The deep depression over the southwest Bay of Bengal was present over the southwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal yesterday.


It is likely to move northwestwards towards the north Tamil Nadu and south Andhra Pradesh coasts in the next 12 hours and move northwards along the Andhra Pradesh coast in the next 24 hours.



The deep depression over the southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal is likely to strengthen into a low pressure area on the 22nd, the India Meteorological Department said.


In this situation, the low pressure area over the Bay of Bengal is likely to strengthen into a low pressure area in the next 12 hours.


Due to this, light to moderate rain is likely to occur at one or two places in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal today.


Furthermore, light fog is expected at one or two places in the early morning, the India Meteorological Department has said.
