A house has been completely destroyed after an electric bike exploded in south-east London.
Exploding electric bike
An electric bike has exploded in a house in Catford, south-east London, causing extensive damage to the building.
The incident took place on December 14 at a house in Renshaw Close.
The London Fire Brigade (LFB) responded to the tragic incident, which occurred just days before Christmas, and brought the fire under control.
The LFB said the e-bike, which had been converted from a traditional bicycle and fitted with a battery pack, exploded while being charged.
Video footage from a doorbell camera captured the rapid spread of the fire.
It shows the entire house engulfed in flames and three residents escaping the burning building.
Unfortunately, one resident was injured after falling from the roof. Another suffered smoke inhalation.
The London Fire Brigade has warned that electric vehicles are "extremely dangerous" if not properly handled and maintained.
