British man celebrates his 110th birthday on Christmas Eve

Donald Ross, who is widely regarded as Britain's oldest man, will celebrate his 110th birthday on Christmas Eve. Donald, who has been honoured for living 40,150 days, was presented with a gift from Buckingham Palace. It is a photo of King Charles and Camilla.


More birthday celebrations have been planned. There are a number of things planned for Donald, including a war-themed party on Kate Ashby's show The D-Day Darlings.


Among the guests invited to the celebration was Kate Fennelly, the mayor of Erewash. She described Donald as 'a national treasure'.


Fighting in World War II



Donald Ross, born in 1914, signed up to fight in World War II at the age of 25. He served on the front lines with the 7th Armored Division


Donald received many medals for his service, including France's highest honor, the Legion D'Honneur.



Donald's son David, 76, said, "Dad was wonderful, he was a great father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He always worked hard. It's amazing to think that my dad is the oldest man in the country."
