Breakfast sandwiches and eggs have been found to take 13 minutes from a person's life. Cheeseburgers take away nine minutes.
This study is not all bad news, scientists have found that eating certain types of fish can add 28 minutes to your life.
One's lifespan
The urgency of dietary changes to improve human health is clearly highlighted by this study, said Dr Olivier Jolliet, who led the study.
Scientists have now confirmed that some of the most popular foods such as pizza, macaroni and cheese, hot dogs and Coke shorten a person's lifespan.
It is noteworthy that a previous study found that eating cheeses such as cheddar and brie can help increase life expectancy and prevent liver cancer.
