Players from Pakistan claim they did not receive an Indian visa for this event, however sources dispute this.

Other athletic events appear to be suffering from the India-Pakistan ICC Champions Trophy standoff. Some Pakistani players said they were not given visas to India for the Delhi Cup and Asia Cup Youth Scrabble Championship.

Reports state that Pakistani athletes applied two months in advance, yet the issue persisted. According to reports, the Pakistani squad was granted 12 visas. The refusal of visas to Pakistani athletes has been reported in the media.

On November 7, 2024, the Pakistani team received 12 visas, far in advance of their scheduled trip to India for these competitions. This includes the current World Youth Champion and the defending Asia Cup champion," a source said.

Pakistan Scrabble Association Director Tariq Pervez expressed disappointment at the Indian government's decision to deny visas to half of the Pakistan team, including players who had previously participated and won in India in 2022. The decision has left many scrabble players, who had traveled to Lahore in anticipation of visas, disappointed and unable to travel to India.

Pakistan's scrabble players, who were awaiting visas, were denied them without explanation, including those who had previously competed in India.

This setback for the tournament, as Pakistan is the reigning World Youth Champions and defending Asian Youth titleholders, is a significant setback.

The sporting relations between India and Pakistan have hit a new low, worsening due to the debate surrounding the Indian men's cricket team's participation in next year's ICC Champions Trophy.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) were notified by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) of their decision to not send the ODI side to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy.

The Indain board has proposed a hybrid format, but PCB is adamant about holding the full event at home. The Pakistan board, which is in charge of organizing the competition, hasn't made a judgment on the subject yet.
