WhatsApp is reportedly set to end support for older iPhones and iPads.
WhatsApp to end support for iPhones
The world's most widely used messaging app WhatsApp is preparing to end support for several older iPhone and iPad models.
Accordingly, iPhone models such as iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, and iPhone 6 Plus will lose support.
Along with this, first-generation iPad models such as iPad mini 2 and iPad mini 3 will also lose support for WhatsApp.
To continue using WhatsApp, users of these devices will need to upgrade to newer models or update their devices to the latest supported iOS or iPadOS version.
Why this change?
This decision by WhatsApp is in line with industry standards, as developers are often focused on implementing new features, improving overall performance, and supporting the latest software versions.
According to Apple's data, only a small percentage of iPhones are running older iOS versions.
By discontinuing support for older devices, WhatsApp is upgrading its app to the latest technologies and seeking to provide a seamless user experience to the majority of its users.
