Some villagers in Britain have expressed their anguish that a wealthy couple have bought our entire village and turned our streets into a ghost town.
Aberllefenni
Aberllefenni, a village in Gwynedd, North Wales, was created for miners.
However, a millionaire couple bought up many parts of the village and became the new landowners.
As a result, rents have risen dramatically in the village. Following this, half of the people who lived there have left.
'Ghost town'
In this situation, many residents have said with sadness that their village has become a 'ghost town'.
A wealthy couple have bought our entire village and turned our streets into a ghost town. They also say that our sense of community has been destroyed.
Wales Investment Properties raised rents by up to 60 per cent and 16 former quarry workers left, leaving most of the houses empty.
A villager said: “It’s a real shame what’s happened to the village. We’ve had to say goodbye to a lot of people who made the village a happy place. The spirit of the village has been destroyed.
They must have lost half the people because the rents have gone up so much. The developers must be really upset that the houses are now empty. It’s very sad.”
