Taiwanese grandmother lifts 90-year-old weightlifter

Taiwanese grandmother Cheng Chen Chin-mei (90) lifted a whopping 35kg at a weightlifting competition in Taipei.

She has been lifting weights since 2023.

She has been suffering from Parkinson's disease and started it with the encouragement of her granddaughter to improve her physical condition.

The exercises have improved her health and increased her hip flexors.

In the competition for people over 70, held with 44 participants, many showed their skills, including the oldest participant, who is 92 years old.

In this, Cheng Chen used a hex bar with six covers to lift up to 45kg.

"All the elderly should join this kind of training. It doesn't have to be a lot of effort, but it is necessary to stay healthy," advised Cheng Chen's grandmother.

In Taiwan, the government has set up special fitness centers for the elderly, which seeks to improve the health of the country's people.
