As protests are intensifying in Georgia, many ambassadors have resigned in protest of the Prime Minister's announcement.


Thousands protest

Thousands of people joined the protest following Georgia's Prime Minister's announcement that he would postpone joining the European Union until 2028.


In particular, when officers saw flames coming from the windows of the parliament building, they fired rubber bullets, tear gas and water cannons to quell the riots.


More than 100 people were arrested as protests broke out in many cities across the country.


Ambassadors resign

Following this, the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Defense and Education, and judges issued joint statements of protest.


About 160 Georgian diplomats have criticized the move, calling it unconstitutional and leading to international isolation of the country.


In addition, several diplomats have resigned in protest.
