North Korean force deployment "will get a firm response," US Secretary of State Antony Blinken warns.
The president of Kyiv's national security council has warned that Vladimir Putin's forces are prepared to unleash a catastrophic attack on Ukraine, as the nation prepares for widespread missile attacks on civilian infrastructure.
As air raid sirens sounded in some areas, Ukraine responded to Wednesday's blasts above Kyiv by accusing Russia of carrying out its first missile strike on the city since August and advising citizens to seek shelter.
However, as Moscow continues to accumulate cruise missiles, Ukraine's security head Andrii Kovalenko cautioned that Wednesday's assaults, which involved both cruise and ballistic missiles, were not as severe as those Moscow may potentially carry out in the future. He emphasized that Ukraine will respond to Russia's ambitions, which are well-known and acknowledged.
It happened as US Secretary of State Antony Blinken was in Brussels, meeting with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha and NATO Chief Mark Rutte.
Mr. Blinken cautioned that Russia's deployment of North Korean forces "demands and will get a firm response" while pledging that the Biden administration will support Ukraine prior to Donald Trump's return to the White House.
