The watch sold for the highest price at auction
A "gold pocket watch" gifted to Captain Arthur Rostron, who saved hundreds of lives during the Titanic disaster in 1912, has sold for the highest price at auction for £1.56 million.
The 18-carat Tiffany & Co. gold pocket watch was previously gifted to Captain Arthur Rostron by the widows of three wealthy businessmen who died in the 1912 Titanic disaster.
Captain Arthur Rostron was quick to divert his ship Carpathia after hearing the emergency news that the Titanic had hit an iceberg and saved hundreds of lives.
This watch, which carries a lot of Titanic memorabilia, has been sold by Henry Aldridge and Son to a private collector in the United States.
Also, this bike clock has fetched the highest value of Titanic related items ever sold at auction.
